Usually when I have a task that feels big, I start by doing something small. I’ll send an email to someone for information. Research one small, interesting aspect of it. Or make a Word document with a chart summarizing everything I need to do and a deadline.
I do one small thing and that leads me to the next thing and one day I wake up and the whole thing is done.
Not really, but you get the idea.
But my PGB blog has drifted into being a permanent entry on my to-do list that never gets done:
“Write blog post”
Recently though, I realized why I am not getting this to-do item done. In writing a post, there’s not a “take one small step” approach. I either clear my desk and my head and write one – or I don’t. In my quest to write a post that is pithy, interesting, and may be helpful, for most of 2017 I just haven’t done it.
So I am going to take a new approach. The not-perfect approach. Every Monday I will write about what is on my mind at Prairie Girl Bakery and this may just be a sentence or a single paragraph. In fact, it may not be blog-worthy at all. But at least it will be something.
And who know, maybe writing about my top-of-mind thoughts will lead me to saying more than that.
