Never hurts to ask

N

Recently both of our catering desk professionals gave their notice so that they can go back to school. Wonderful steps for them but I must admit I was a little panicked at first. During my hysteria (not quite), Andrea mentioned that one of the bakers has asked several times over her three years at Prairie Girl about how she might get an opportunity to work in catering. So we decided to do something that is very common at big companies- post a description of the jobs in the weekly team update. Sure enough the baker contacted me – as well as another baker!

Long story short, Andrea may now regret mentioning this to me because she is down two bakers, but the new catering team will of course have an incredible knowledge of our menu and they are so enthusiastic!! As the “big companies” know,  it is important to people to have the chance to move around and try out different jobs, while staying in the same company.

I will definitely do this routinely now – post openings as they come up-  it is probably something I should have done right from the start.
