About Jean Blacklock
President, Prairie Girl Bakery
Jean Blacklock grew up in Saskatchewan. Her parents were entrepreneurs and encouraged Jean and her siblings to always try new things and keep learning. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with degrees in Commerce and in Law. Jean became a partner at a major law firm in Calgary and later joined BMO Financial Group as an executive in wealth management. Her last role at BMO was managing wealth services for BMO Harris Private Banking and as COO of BMO Trust Company.
In 2009 Jean left the corporate world to pursue her dream of starting a business. Prairie Girl Bakery opened its doors in April, 2011, its 2nd location opened 7 months later in First Canadian Place, and a 3rd location in April of 2013.
Jean has written four published books: two books on estate planning (Wiley & Co, 2001 and 2010), a leadership book (McGraw Hill, 2006) and The Prairie Girl Cupcake Cookbook (Penguin Random House, 2016).
Jean and her husband, Andrew Auerbach, live in Toronto. They have four children living in four provinces.
